I’m Vitra!  Thanks for stopping by.

I was born in Trinidad and grew up in New York.  I took my first big overseas trip to London when I studied abroad.  The experience opened my eyes to the fascinating sights, sounds, and cultures “out there”–places that are beyond the comfort and routine of everyday life.

Since then, I have tried to travel as much as possible.  Traveling ignites a fire within – this is how I know it is truly a passion.  That, along with my love of talking to people and asking lots of questions (I have a journalism background) inspired me to create this blog.

La Dolce Vitra is about learning, laughing, and sharing the adventures of life.  This doesn’t necessarily mean booking an expensive and exotic trip to an unheard of destination and writing about it–it doesn’t have to be that complicated.  The most amazing of experiences can simply be a realization or thought that occurs to you while crossing the street!

I decided to call it “La Dolce Vitra” because the real phrase, La Dolce Vita, is something I want to remind myself of regularly.  Sometimes, between work, responsibilities, and just trying to stay sane, some of us might forget to enjoy this life.  I used my name to create “La Dolce Vitra” as a way to hold myself accountable to the fact that crap happens, and although life isn’t perfect–it can certainly be sweet, and should definitely be savored.

I just finished writing a non-fiction book, profiling people who for some reason left their 9-5 job in order to find or pursue a career passion.

“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways – Chardonnay in one hand – chocolate in the other – body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO, What a Ride”
